GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This course is an interdisciplinary study integrating life sciences with economics, politics, engineering, and ethics. Ecological concepts are used throughout the course to identify and understand contemporary environmental issues..
EXPECTATIONS
— Students will be expected to analyze environmental dilemmas to evaluate the associated risks and to formulate possible solutions.
— Students will be expected to develop and defend informed views on these topics. Traditional teaching methods will be supplemented with debates, laboratories, research and independent community work.
CLASSROOM RULES
Three simple classroom rules:
Be respectful
Be prepared
Be mature
ATTENDANCE – Be always on time.
TARDIES – 10 minutes of tolerance (3 tardies = 1 absence).
JUSTIFIED ABSENCE – Send the homework on the due date. Make-up tests & quizzes will be discussed with the teacher.
Extracurricular absences must be approved by the HS office.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
— Get to class in an orderly manner and ready to work: have all your materials ready (notebook, textbook, homework and anything else you might need).
— NO FOOD.
— TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE.
— TURN OFF ANY OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE (except for any pacemaker).
— DO NOT DO HOMEWORK of ANY OTHER CLASS.
— CHEATING rules from the ASFG handbook will be reinforced.
DO’s
— Be always on time and with your material ready (notebook, book, homework, etc.).
— Study daily lessons in advance.
— Write the class agenda in your notebook (date, topic, objective, activities and homework).
— Note taking during class.
— Be proactive.
CLASS MATERIAL
— Professional notebook 100 sheets.
— Enough pens and pencils.
— Color pencils.
— 20 – 30 cms ruler.
— Sharpener and eraser.
— USB memory for homeworks and presentations when required.
— ENTHUSIASM.
